Tiebreaker System
If multiple participants end up with the same total points, we'll break ties in this order:
1. Number of Sets in Championship Match
You'll predict how many sets the championship match will take (3, 4, or 5).
- Example: If the match is won in 4 sets and you predicted 4, you win this tiebreaker over someone who predicted 3 or 5 sets.
2. Final Set Score Prediction
You'll predict the score of the last set played in the championship match.
For matches ending in 3 or 4 sets:
- Predict a score where winning team has at least 25 points
- Example: You predict 25-22
- If actual final set was 25-21, and another participant predicted 25-18, you win this tiebreaker
For matches going to 5 sets:
- Predict a score where winning team has at least 15 points
- Example: You predict 15-12
- If actual final set was 15-13, and another participant predicted 15-10, you win this tiebreaker
3. Total Match Points Prediction
Predict the combined points scored by both teams across all sets in the championship match.
Typical ranges:
- 3-set match: usually 125-150 total points (Example: 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 = 138 total points)
- 4-set match: usually 175-200 total points (Example: 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21 = 186 total points)
- 5-set match: usually 200-225 total points (Example: 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 15-13 = 219 total points)
Important Tiebreaker Rule:
Your predicted total must be equal to or less than the actual total. If you predict higher than the actual total, you cannot win this tiebreaker.
Example: If actual total points = 186
- Your prediction of 185: Could win tiebreaker
- Your prediction of 186: Could win tiebreaker
- Your prediction of 187: Cannot win tiebreaker
Final Tiebreaker Note
In the event that multiple participants remain tied after all three tiebreakers have been applied, the $20,000 prize will be split equally among the tied winners.
